What Is The Boring Mahcine?

In machining, boring refers to the further processing of forged, cast or drilled holes.

The boring cutter is mounted on a boring bar whose axis coincides with the center axis of the hollow being machined. By rotating the workpiece or rotating the boring bar, the boring head tool further processes the hole. The type and accuracy of the hollow machined will vary depending on the boring tool. Boring can be divided into rough boring, semi-finish boring and finish boring. The dimensional accuracy of fine boring can reach IT8~IT7, and the surface roughness Ra value is 1.6~0.8μm.

Boring can enlarge the hole diameter, improve the accuracy, and reduce the surface roughness, but also can better correct the original hole axis deflection.

There are several types of boring machines. For example, the vertical boring machine and the horizontal boring machine, portable boring machine, etc.

Boring machines are mainly used for boring holes in large box parts, using a rotating spindle for boring holes and end faces on workpieces mounted on a table.

What Is A Portable Boring Machine?

The portable boring machine was created for the application of on-site machining and is easy to carry and install. Portable boring machines are also referred to as on-site boring machine or mobile line boring equipment.

It is also available in various forms. Some can be mounted on a through-hole and the boring bar can be supported at both ends, which is often called a portable line boring machine. Some can be supported at one end, and this can be used for both through bores and blind bores.

Generally, support bearings are installed at both ends of the hole with connecting supports. When the hole system is longer, intermediate support bearings are installed between the two end bearings. The boring bar (spindle) is mounted in the bearing, and the spindle box can be mounted in either position. The feed box is mounted on one end of the spindle. The spindle is slotted on one side and a drive screw is mounted in the slot. The boring head for boring is mounted on the boring bar (spindle), and the feed box drives the screw to rotate and move the tool holder along the boring bar. When the spindle box drives the boring bar to rotate, the boring head drives the boring cutter to achieve cutting motion.

Boring machines for end face machining, where the boring cutter is fixed on the outside of the end face to be machined and rotates with the boring bar to achieve the cutting process.

How to install the portable boring machine?

Assemble the boring bar, support flange, support shank and centering cone on the workpiece to be machined, measure and adjust the center of the boring bar, the support flange is welded to the workpiece to be machined by spot welding.

Advantages of portable boring machine

Small size and light weight. Not limited by location and space, industrial and mining enterprises, engineering sites can be easily carried and processed anytime and anywhere.

Boring machines are a good choice for on-site machining and can be used for machining bores, reaming, deep holes, large-diameter holes, etc. According to different boring cutters and accessories can also be drilled, milled, threaded and machined external and end face machining, etc. For the deformation of some machine bore, you can also choose a portable line boring welding machine. For example, when an excavator is used for a long time, the bore will become elliptical and it is troublesome to repair the bore. The use of a portable line boring welding machine can be a good d solution to such problems.
